This page attempts to record the history of the Gentoo bugzilla, used for tracking the bugs and feature requests associated with Gentoo. Each week the Gentoo Weekly Newsletter (GWN) publishes, amongst other things, a list of the bug statistics for the past week. I always found them interesting so decided to record all of the statistics and plot them against time so I could see the trends. I'm sure it's possible to generate this type of graph from Bugzilla, but I bet very few people know how to do so.
Very occasionally, the GWN misses a week or doesn't produce bug statistics for some reason. In this case the subsequent week will either be unaffected or else contain the results of the past two weeks. In the latter case this leads to a large spike in the results on the second week. This is an anomaly in the way the results have been reported, not in bug activity.
The way the reopened bugs were measured was changed early on in the history of the GWN which accounts for the large change in values.
The "important bugs" graph is the sum of the blocker, critical and major bug graphs and isn't trying to say that other bugs aren't important...
The vertical grey lines in the graphs represent yearly intervals after the start of GWN which very roughly equates to the new year. The small tick marks show two weekly intervals - this may change in the future as the axis becomes more crowded.
The raw values used to generate these graphs can be found here (CSV format)
